The Colchester Historical Society is a non-profit organization. CHS’ holdings consist of photographs, portraits, clothing, ephemera, genealogy files and historical objects that document the history and lives of Colchester Township’s residents along the East Branch of the Delaware River. One of our major collections documents the construction of the Pepacton Reservoir. Our collection is housed on the basement level of the Colchester Town Hall, 72 Tannery Road, Downsville, New York 13755. The collection is open by appointment. We hope that you will consider joining our Society. You will be an important part of an organization that is moving ahead in the preservation of our local history. As a benefit of your membership, you will have access to our collection for your personal research and our newsletter Colchester History Connection published three times a year.
Please attend one of our monthly meetings, we need a variety of talents to carry out our projects. Please print out the Application Form and mail it to the address listed along with your check or money order, or submit your payment online using our PayPal button. If you would like to give a gift membership, please add their information to the form along with your information. An acknowledgement will be emailed to the address that you indicate on our Application Form.

Building Fund Contributor: Please consider contributing to our Building Fund. Our future goal is the purchase of a building to preserve our local history collection, provide research space and also museum space to exhibit our artifacts and collections.
